December 10, 2000: Leonardo has announced the recipients of the New Horizons Award for Innovation in New Media 2000

During a press conference held within the frame of ISEA 2000, Leonardo has announced the recipients of the New Horizons Award for Innovation in New Media: They are Gregory Barsamian (USA) and Graham Harwood (UK). Read more about this year's awards in the Leonardo web site




December 8, 2000: Leonardo Press conference

Whithin the frame of ISEA 2000, Leonardo is organizing a press conference, on Friday, December 8, 2000, 6:15 pm, in the Forum des images (salle 100), Forum des Halles, 2 Grande galerie, 75001 Paris.

During this press conference, Leonardo's director Roger Malina and OLATS's director Annick Bureaud will:

  • Announce the awardees of the «New Horizons Award 2000», conferred by Leonardo/Isast, San Francisco.

  • Provide information about the Transasia-Leonardo Finance vs. Leonardo lawsuit

  • Announce the OLATS program, including the project «Genie et pouvoir de l'eau» as part of the program «Virtual Africa»

  • Present the new books of the Leonardo Book Series Collection published by MIT Press. To this presentation will attend the authors Ken Goldberg and Lev Manovich as well as Doug Sery, who is the responsible for this collection

December 7, 2000: Procedural hearing of the Transasia vs Leonardo lawsuit

The hearing held on November 20, 2000, for technical and procedural reasons, has set up a new hearing to December 7th. On December the 7th, this will again be a procedural hearing that should fix the date of the pleading.



November 23, 2000: Leonardo receives a Rockefeller Foundation grant

Leonardo/ISAST has received a substantial grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. This financial support is for Leonardo's publishing project on Artificial Life and Art and on Generative Systems and Art (Christa Sommerer and Ken Rinaldo, Guest Editors).
