The period of maturity, 1966-1980

Genii Loci

During this third period of N. Hatzikiriakos-Ghikas work, the intermediate phases are less clear. Thematic units and units of works with relatively similar style are distinctive, having as essential characteristic the gradual disappearance of the peculiar post-cubistic idiom and the angular compositions: 

a) Natural elements: "water", "land", "sky", "stream", 1966 (National Gallery). 

b) Water, ports, riverbeds, reeds, 1966-70: e.g. "Night Port", 1967 (National Gallery). 

c) Mythological creatures in nature, 1969-70: e.g. "Maenads", and "Genii Loci", 1970 (National Gallery). 

d) Attic landscapes, 1970-73: e.g. "Vravron", 1971-72 (M. Nomikos), "Kifissia", 1973 (National Gallery). 

e) Skeleton buildings, gardening tools and Corfu gardens, 1974-80: e.g. "Packed Wood", 1975 (Andreas Papandreou).
