Giorgio de Chirico
and the Hellenic Myth

The exhibition "Giorgio De Chirico and the Hellenic Myth", comprising paintings, drawings and part of the Sotili collection was first presented at the Modern Art Museum in Andros (from 25-6 to 17-9-95). Then it was tranferred to Volos, De Chirico's native town (from 1-10 to 26-11-95). There it was displayed again, enhanced with works of other Greek painters of the period when De Chirico was studying in Athens, along with another exhibition entitled "Volos of De Chirico's Memories", comprising objects and rare photographs of this period.

We have selected an extract from the introduction to the exhibition's catalog, written by Kyriakos Koutsomallis.

The photographic material in these web pages is from the catalog of the exhibition "Giorgio de Chirico and the Hellenic Myth".
