Giorgio de Chirico was born in Volos - Greece, where his father was working as a railroad engineer. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, Greece.

He continued his studies at the Fine Arts Academy of Munich, Germany.

1910

He inspired the concept of Metaphysical Painting, by creating the "Enigma of the Oracle" and the "The Enigma of an Autumn Afternoon"

1911-15
|
He moved to Paris where he met with the Avant-Garde of that period.

1915
|
He moved to Ferrara, Italy.

1920
|
End of the Metaphysical period. He settled in Rome and declared a return to Traditional. He copies Botticelli, Raphael and Michelangello.

1925
|
He returned to Paris, where he was received with enthusiasm by the Surrealists since they considered him to be their precursor. Shortly thereafter he withdrew from this circle. He wrote his book "Hebdomeros", where he renounced all of his work before 1920, the most important part of his whole creation.
