Lena Kokkini
The art historian Lena Kokkini was born in Athens. She studied law in what was then named West Berlin and later studied history of art and mass media. In 1986 she got her Ph.D. with a thesis on "The Dada movement and the position of women in it". Since then, she lives and works between Athens and Berlin.
She has published many articles in the daily "Avgi"(where she is working since 1987) and in the magazines "Eikastika", "Anti", "Katikia", "Tehni/Art", the Belgian "+-0" and the German "Art". She was the curator of several contemporary art exhibitions such as:
- 1986: "New wild ones", at the Goethe Institute, Athens
- 1987: "Collage", by Hannah Hoch, at the Goethe Institute, Athens
- 1988: "The Christian Schad technique in photography", with the cooperation of the Goethe Institute, and the collaboration of the Cultural Department of the Athens Municipality
- 1990: "No man's land" at the Parko Eleftherias with the collaboration of the Cultural Department of the Athens Municipality
- 1991: "Massoura" at the Goethe Institute, Athens
- 1991: "Mare Nostrum" in Patras
- 1992: "4 Contemporary Artists" at the Netherlands Embassy with the collaboration of the Cultural Department of the Athens Municipality
- 1994: "On the opposite side" at the Municipal Gallery, Athens
