Sophia Portalakis-Armaos

1947 Born in Herakleion, Crete. She becomes involved in icon painting at the age of 14.
1965-1970 Studied painting and mosaic at the Athens School of Fine Arts.
1972-1973 Continued her studies at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beuax Arts, Paris. Studies and works on the Cretan School of the 15th and 16th c.
Participates four times in the International Show of Frankfurt; from 1983 she exports icons to Germany, France, Netherlands and America.
1974 Lives and works in Athens.
1984 She represents Greece in the "Mediterranean Week" in Stutgard, Germany.
1985 She paints the altar screen of the Boulgari – Gallisoni chappel in Rome.
There are works of hers in private collections and galleries.
1998 She starts working with Greek museums for the production of copies of Byzantine icons.
