Nikos Kessanlis

1930

Born in Thessaloniki. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Yannis Moralis and at the same time worked in the workshops of N. Nikolaou and Y. Spyropoulos

He moves to Rome where he embarks on his career in the "tradition of the new". It opposed the figurative tendency of conventional painting, which, during the inter-war years, reproduced the petit-bourgeois notions of "genre" painting and "good taste"
