THE RETROSPECTIVE EXHIBITION OF PAVLOS IN GREECE

The J.F. Costopoulos Foundation, Athens, organised the first retrospective exhibition of Pavlos (Dionyssopoulos) in Greece at the Macedonian Museum of Modern Art (M.M.M.A.), Thessaloniki, from May 29th to August 17th, 1997. The exhibition, which has been organised in the context of the European Cultural Capital, Thessaloniki '97, and in collaboration with the M.M.M.A., was curated by Katerina Koskina. The exhibition has been presented in Athens, from mid-October till the end of November 1997, at "Ergostassio", the new exhibition space of the Athens School of Fine Arts.

This double exhibition constitutes a major event in the art world, as it is among the most important exhibitions ever devoted to Pavlos. Almost 130 of the most representative works of all periods of the artist has been presented. A bilingual catalogue with texts and studies by Pierre Restany, the theoritician of Nouveau Realisme, and by the curator of the exhibition of the exhibition completes this event.
